CAASPP
We will be starting our annual online state testing called CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) Your child has been practicing the following aspects of these assessments in class: 1.Keyboard Practice: Students must be comfortable navigating all the keys on a keyboard. 2.Device Practice: Testing will be done on Chromebooks, so comfort with this device is important. 3.Software Practice: The test uses specific software that students should feel comfortable looking at and understanding – font sizes, colors, where tool boxes are located, etc. 4.Question Practice: The test asks questions related to the California State Standards, and require a deeper level of understanding. The dates your child will be taking the tests are: _____May 1st-May 11th. _Starting May 1st we will CAASPP test EVERY TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, AND FRIDAY FROM 10:15-12:20. Please do the following to prepare: _PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD WITH A HEALTHY SNACK AND TRY FOR AT LEAST 8 HOURS OF SLEEP! This test takes a toll on students physically and emotionally. It is exhausting for EVERY child! Science Night Science Night: Science Night is right around the corner – Friday, May 4. The Science Night website is up, and students can browse, then sign-up to participate. Although the event is not until May 4th, students may need time to develop their ideas and projects. April in Room 3
Dear Room 3 Parents,
The students of room 3 are busy bee’s this month! In preparation for the CAASPP test we have started to review every writing and math standard we have covered this year. Starting May 1st we will CAASPP test EVERY TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, AND FRIDAY FROM 10:15-12:20. Please do the following to prepare: PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD WITH A HEALTHY SNACK AND TRY FOR AT LEAST 8 HOURS OF SLEEP! This test takes a toll on students physically and emotionally. It is exhausting for EVERY child!Once we start to CAASPP test the students will start our final, and my personal favorite, project. The students will work with a partner of their choosing and write a California County Report, and create a collaborative county float project. The student’s chose a county in California, research to write an informational report, and create a float representing that county.
Our new math unit takes the students through a review of all standards. The students will be converting fractions to decimals and decimals to percents. They will practice with more basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions as well. In social studies and writing the students are starting our Gold Rush unit and working to write an informational report on a topic of their choosing relating to the Gold Rush. We are reading By the Great Horn Spoon, and creating an interactive journal to complement the text.
